Aur
Aur is the sound of transformation—where guitar dissolves into texture, loops stretch into new shapes, and melodies drift in and out like echoes. The ambient project of Sean Cimino, Aur takes a tactile approach to sound, using guitar, modular synthesis, pedals, and instinctual layering to create music that feels fluid, immersive, and alive in its decay. By pushing the boundaries of his first instrument guitar, Cimino bends and reshapes it into something weightless—where resonance becomes rhythm, and distortion turns to atmosphere.
For years, Cimino has explored the intersection of sound and movement. Before Aur, he was a pivotal member of Foster the People, performing worldwide and working with producers like Paul Epworth, Greg Kurstin, and Rich Costey.
His ability to blur the lines between structured songwriting and freeform experimentation extends into Peel, his post-punk project, where driving rhythms and cinematic textures earned praise from Paste, Clash, and Flood Magazine, with tracks landing in FIFA 21, Shrill (Hulu), and The Blazing World.
Now, Aur moves in a different direction—one guided by instinct over structure. It’s ambient in its purest form, built on space, movement, and the unseen forces that pull sound apart and bring it back together.
